Williams Makes His Choice

One of the top senior frontcourt players in the state, Derrick Williams has made a verbal commitment. Williams has decided to attend the University of Richmond.

According to his AAU Coach Eric Harrield of Team Izod/Sports University: "He chose Richmond because of the campus and academics. The coaching staff did the best job over the longest period of time."

As a sophomore at Life Center Academy Williams was a NJ Hoops 2nd Team All State Independent choice. He transferred to St. Anthony's and helped lead the Friars to a 24-5 mark last season and final NJ Hoops ranking of 6th in the state.

He attended Reebok U All American Camp the past two summers.

In the spring he was a Honorable Mention All Tournament choice at the Hoop Group Spring Jam Fest. Last month he was named to the All Tournament Team at the Hoop Group Fall Jam Fest.

The super strong forward was ranked among NJ Hoops Top 10 seniors in the state. He is a beast on the low post and rebounds very well. His perimeter skills have been improving as well. He has great hands and is very tough to move off the low block or contain in the post. On the right is an old interview with Williams from Reebok U.
